The future of Home Services

Updated: Dec 21, 2023

I'm a family man! As a husband and a father of 3 I have my (shared) responsibilities to manage our household, this in combination with my day to day job and personal ambitions. I feel the pain and frustration, like many other hardworking families, of getting everything done.

That is why I surround myself with people, companies and technology that support me in this. I noticed that home services work well in themselves, but there is room for improvement and that is exactly what we want to do with Sfinx. In this blog I want to talk briefly about the future of home services

Home services, such as cleaning, care, repairs, and maintenance are very common in modern living. However, with the rise of new technologies and changing consumer behaviors (due to circumstances), the future of home services is evolving rapidly. I would like to explore some of the emerging trends and technologies that are shaping the future of home services.

Smart Home Services

Smart home technology is becoming increasingly popular, and it's no surprise that it's starting to make its way into home services. Smart home technologies are designed to help homeowners automate and optimize various tasks around the home, such as cleaning, maintenance, and repairs. For example, robotic vacuum cleaners can be programmed to clean floors automatically, while smart thermostats can learn the homeowners' preferences and adjust the temperature accordingly. But also technologies like smart locks, camera's and smart mailboxes open opportunities for a more convenient way of living.

On-Demand Services

On-demand services have been around for a few years, but they're starting to become more popular in the home services industry. On-demand services allow homeowners to request services on-demand, without the need for a long-term contract or commitment. This flexibility is appealing to homeowners who may only need occasional services, such as cleaning or repairs.

One example is the company Ring Twice (ex-ListMinut) (www.ringtwice.be) which offers on-demand service by connecting home owners to service providers.

Subscription Services

Subscription services are becoming increasingly popular in many industries, including home services. Subscription services allow homeowners to pay a monthly or annual fee for access to various home services, such as meal delivery , garden maintenance and cleaning services. This model provides homeowners with peace of mind, knowing that their home is being taken care of on a regular basis.

One example is the company Foodbag (www.foodbag.be) which offers the possibility to get healty foodboxes at your doorstep. This might be subscription based or on demand.

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) is also starting to make its way into home services. AI-powered home services can provide personalized recommendations based on homeowners' habits and preferences. For example, an AI-powered cleaning service can learn which areas of the home need to be cleaned more frequently and provide recommendations accordingly.

Sustainability

Sustainability is becoming increasingly important to consumers, and this trend is also starting to make its way into home services. Sustainable home services, such as eco-friendly cleaning products, energy-efficient repairs and maintenance, are becoming more popular. Homeowners are looking for ways to reduce their environmental footprint and are willing to pay for sustainable home services.

The future of home services is evolving rapidly, driven by emerging technologies and changing consumer behaviors. Smart home services, on-demand and subscription services, artificial intelligence, and sustainability are all shaping the future of home services.

With Sfinx we embrace these emerging trends and technologies in order to meet the changing needs and preferences of homeowners in the years to come.
